VPN Clients Configuration

Overview

The VPN Clients page is part of the Configuration section of the Energicity platform. The VPN Clients tab is used to create and manage server names with associated static IP addresses for each project. These VPN entries are essential for managing general infrastructure connectivity on a per-project basis.

Table Columns and Description

Field Description
ID A unique identifier for each VPN client entry.
Name The name of the VPN client, often based on server naming conventions.
IP Address The static IP address assigned to the VPN client.
Project The associated project or community that the VPN client is connected to.
Comment Any additional information or notes related to the VPN client.
Actions Admin-only controls for editing or deleting the VPN entry.

Functional Buttons and Actions

  • Search Bar: Allows filtering the VPN list by project name.
  • Add VPN Client: Opens a form where new VPN client entries can be created. Mandatory fields include name, IP address, and project.
  • Edit Icon (✏️): Allows admin users to update the VPN client configuration.
  • Delete Icon (🗑️): Prompts confirmation and removes the selected record from the system.

Features and Functionalities

  • VPN clients are project-specific and cannot be reused across projects.
  • IP addresses are statically assigned to physical devices.
  • VPN client names are user-defined with no strict naming convention.
  • Comment field is optional for administrative notes.
  • Edit and delete actions are available only to admin users. Deleting removes the record permanently.
  • Users can search by VPN name or project name. All columns are sortable except for the action column.
  • Pagination is adjustable using the entries-per-page setting.

Permissions and Roles

Only administrators have access to perform the following: - Add new VPN client entries - Edit existing VPN configurations - Delete VPN client records

Add VPN Client

Clicking the 'Add VPN Client' button opens a form where users must fill in all visible fields. There are no strict validation rules, but all fields are required for submission.

Security & Access Control

Only users with administrative privileges can add, edit, or delete VPN client records.

Use Case

The VPN client entries ensure that each remote site or project location can be uniquely identified and securely connected to the central server infrastructure through a defined IP address.

Notes

  • There are over 100 VPN entries, navigable using pagination controls at the bottom.
  • This section is crucial for infrastructure and connectivity management across remote energy sites.
